IETE Students Forum (ISF)
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), founded in 1953, is a professional society for electronics, telecommunication, computer science and IT. Its Students Forums run in engineering colleges and polytechnics across India.
Objectives
- Improve the standard of engineering education
- Counsel students on emerging opportunities
- Encourage learning beyond the classroom through workshops, projects and seminars
- Grow IETE's student and corporate membership
What the forum does
- Technical programmes, lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibitions
- A platform to discuss curriculum, jobs, higher education and new trends
- Technical visits, project work and contact with industry and academia
- Team spirit, self-reliance and professional skills

SSIP: Student Startup & Innovation Policy
A Government of Gujarat policy that builds a student-centred innovation and pre-incubation ecosystem in educational institutions, helping student ideas move from the lab towards the market.
Who can apply
Any individual or group with an innovative idea or concept. Institutions, incubation centres, industry and R&D establishments can support and mentor innovators.
Goals of the policy
- Innovation and pre-incubation programmes in every university
- At least 1% of graduates becoming job creators
- 1,000 student-led innovations and 1,000 university patents a year
- 500 student startups within five years
NPTEL-SWAYAM Local Chapter
Through the institute's SWAYAM Local Chapter, students and faculty can take NPTEL online certification courses offered by the IITs and IISc.
How to join a course
- Choose a course on the NPTEL website and enrol free
- Follow the weekly lectures and submit assignments
- Register for the proctored exam to earn a certificate
